Title: Academic Advising Program Assessment: Using a Rubric to Begin the Conversation
Lead Presenter: George Steele
Date: October 08, 2021    Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Room: 200, DECC
Abstract: Starting the conversation with your academic advising team on improving student success, retention, and degree completion through a comprehensive, standards-based assessment process is not easy. This presentation will provide an overview of how four Excellence in Academic Advising Fellows piloted an activity with their academic advising teams by using a rubric to initiate a reflective activity that focused on how well their advising units met base-line professional standards, as defined by the NACADA Concept of Advising, within a context of the quality of the advising interactions they have with their students. Participants will hear from the panel how they used the rubric at their institutions and obtain practical suggestions for implementation. Participants will have access to the rubric.
