Abstract:

Appreciative Advising is the intentional collaborative practice of asking positive, open-ended questions that help students optimize their educational experiences and achieve their dreams, goals, and potentials. The Appreciative Advising Advising Community promotes, shares, and explores research-based advising practices that highlight strength/asset-based positive techniques. The advising community meeting offers a platform for appreciative advisors to discuss how they have applied Appreciative Advising in various contexts including advising sessions, First-Year Experience programs, student success programs, and other campus initiatives. We will also be exploring opportunities for members to become more involved in promoting the work of the advising community and to collaborate across institutions through online learning communities. |
