Title: Advising Community Meeting: Advising Community on Career Advising
Lead Presenter: Kimberly Smith
Date: October 07, 2021    Time: 2:15 pm - 3:15 pm
Room: 260/261, DECC
Abstract: Virginia Gordon (2006) describes career advising as a process that 'helps students understand how their personal interests, abilities, and values might predict success in the academic and career fields they are considering and how to form their academic and career goals accordingly'. The purpose of the Career Advising Community is to explore the connection between academic and career advising and to provide a forum for discussing career decision issues including but not limited to: the process of relating students' interests and abilities to major and career plans, the integration of major and career-related experiential learning opportunities, and to share best practices and resources of programs and offices that integrate academic and career advising. This meeting will be an opportunity to network, share, and learn from fellow career advising colleagues.
