Abstract:
|
Front-line academic advisors play a critical role in student engagement and success, yet they are often left out of institutional conversations about High-Impact Practices (HIPs). This session will explore how advisors can intentionally integrate HIPs-such as first-year experiences, collaborative learning, and experiential education-into their advising work to enhance student retention and success. Participants will learn tangible strategies for incorporating HIPs into advising conversations, connecting students to transformational learning opportunities, and tracking the impact of these efforts through assessment and data analysis. Attendees will leave with actionable tools, best practices, and real-world examples to advocate for the role of advising in institutional HIP initiatives. This interactive session is ideal for advisors seeking to strengthen student engagement while demonstrating the effectiveness of their work through quantifiable outcomes. |
