Title: Fostering Intergroup Dialogue Through Targeted Programming for Equity and Inclusion in Honors LLC
Lead Presenter: Megan Stowe
Date: October 07, 2021    Time: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Room: 263, DECC
Abstract: This presentation will offer recommendations for creating programming that fosters intergroup dialogue surrounding gender, class, race and ethnicity based on our model, the 'Critical Conversations Series,' developed and implemented from Fall 2020-Spring 2021 in the Honors College at our university. Programming focuses on intercultural awareness, respect, and appreciation, and highlights the achievements and contributions of marginalized populations in Higher Ed and within larger cultural frameworks. Presentation attendees will receive the tools to assess their individual program and campus needs, and brainstorm programming solutions for their specific student populations. Materials include a thumb drive loaded with resources for creating a campus series for each participant, sample posters and flyers from our event series, a digital presentation with photographs and student survey responses, budgetary considerations, and committee and subcommittee charges and task lists.
