Title: When Groundhog Day Finally Ends: Finding Perspective in the Pandemic to Move Forward
Lead Presenter: Amy Collins-Warfield
Date: October 08, 2021    Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Room: 205, DECC
Abstract: The global pandemic upended our lives, creating a new set of challenges and forcing higher education professionals to adapt. Much like the characters in the movie 'Groundhog Day' (1993), many of us feel caught in the monotony of the 'new normal,' as boundaries of work, home, and school blend together. Making sense of the realities of this pandemic existence remains a challenge, but reflection can help. Reflection is a tool that higher education professionals can use to build self-awareness, learn from experiences, affirm their purpose, and set new goals based on personal growth. The purpose of this presentation is to provide advisors with a tool of reflection to chart a path forward, considering the experiences of the recent past while also creating a goal or vision for the future based on transformative growth.
