Abstract:

Empowering Introverted Students and Staff
What does Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Michael Jordan all have in common? They happen to be responsible for some of the greatest achievements in our society. Oh yeah, and they are introverts. There are a lot of misconceptions about introverts, such as being shy, unfriendly, hating public speaking, not good for leadership roles, etc. Yet at least one-third of the people we know are introverts, and we have some very influential introverted leaders (Cain, 2012). Many times, introverts are often misunderstood and undervalued. In this session, we will debunk these myths and talk about many strengths and values of introverts. Everyone can benefit from this topic, whether working with introverted students/colleagues as an extrovert or feeling empowered as a fellow introvert. |
