Abstract: Retaining Advisors Using a Trauma-Informed Leadership Approach

Are you experiencing increased advisor turnover and attrition at your institution? Recent 'CUPA-HR' survey results indicated that more than 56% of higher education employees are looking for alternative employment in the next twelve months. In this presentation, participants will learn the concepts of trauma-informed leadership approach and trauma-informed strategies that can be applied in management situations. Participants will break down into small groups to identify and develop strategies for supporting advisors. This presentation is appropriate for aspiring and current advising administrators from both 2- and 4-year colleges that are interested in learning about trauma-informed leadership approaches.
