Abstract: Enhancing Academic Advising: The Importance of Disaggregated Race Data for APIDA and Latinx Students

There has been increasing recognition of the importance of disaggregated race data, particularly concerning Asian Pacific Island Desi American (APIDA) and Latinx students. This panel session highlights the importance of keeping disaggregated data and the incorporation of incorporating disaggregated race data into academic advising practices. Disaggregation of data better supports the diverse needs of APIDA and Latinx student populations on our campuses. Participants will leave the session with a better understanding of the unique experiences that APIDA and Latinx students share and some strategies to help advocate for institutional disaggregation of student race data.
