Abstract:
|
This presentation explores how a public four-year institution, following participation in Degrees When Due, launched its own degree completion program. Using a data-informed approach, the initiative identified recent stopouts for proactive outreach and collaborated with campus partners to reduce institutional barriers. The program employs three strategies: graduation workshops for near-completers, proactive follow-up for students denied graduation, and targeted outreach to stopouts close to completion.
Analyzing 3,339 stopout records (2015-2022), graduation and retention specialists reached out to 385 students, resulting in 85 re-enrollments and 114 graduates by fall 2023. Findings emphasize the impact of personalized support and holistic advising in addressing financial, socioemotional, and cultural barriers to re-enrollment. The session will conclude with scalable strategies for institutions seeking to enhance degree completion through proactive, student-centered interventions. |
