Session #: 118(LEC)
Title: From Design to Implementation: Create Your Own University Transfer Success Seminar
Lead Presenter: Karen Ganss
Date: October 08, 2021    Time: 8:45 am - 9:45 am
Room: 200, DECC
Abstract: Do you know of a student population that could benefit from a student success course, but you don't know where to begin? Are you interested in spearheading efforts, yet unsure if this should be led by Academic Advising units?

Participants will be led through a step-by-step process to ascertain student needs, ensure stakeholder buy-in, create an advising committee, and implement a credit-bearing student success seminar. Resources include a worksheet to brainstorm ideas, course schedules, learning objectives, and course syllabi. Thus, participants will be equipped with tools to implement a student success course in their advising role and institution.

Although presenters will discuss the particular needs of transfer student populations as related to their context and course, tips from this session can be applied to any underrepresented student population in need of intentional support.
