Title: Emotional Economics: Budgeting Empathy to Ensure Equal Support For All Students
Lead Presenter: Megan Terawaki
Date: October 08, 2021    Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Room: 201/202, DECC
Abstract: Seeing student after student will leave you feeling drained and emotionally devoid. What can you do to ensure that you meet each student with equal support and avoid burnout? This is where emotions and economics intersect: you must budget your empathy to ensure that you treat your students equally and fairly. This presentation will add rational empathy, chronotypes (typology of your internal clock that determines the best times of day for certain activities), and emotional well-being to your toolkit to make you a better and more balanced advisor.
