Title: Using Digital Tools to Build Community With Transition Students
Lead Presenter: Corinne Cook
Date: October 07, 2021    Time: 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Room: 207/208, DECC
Abstract: This session is for advisors hoping to utilize digital tools to cultivate belonging for students seeking deepened connections to their majors. We will share how we transitioned a year-long recruitment plan for major/college change students to a range of virtual engagement opportunities and utilized our Learning Management System (Canvas) to catch students at various stages in their major/college change processes. Come learn about our students' journeys - how they learn about us, connect with our programs, and move through our processes; we'll also discuss how we are applying our learnings as we shift back to hybrid offerings. Reimagining our programming allowed us to expand, add depth, and personalize our offerings in new ways and achieve increased engagement, strong learning outcomes, and meaningful interactions between students and upper-class peers, advisors, and faculty in their future majors.
