Lead Presenter: Michelle Kechichian

Room: Zoom Room 3
Abstract: Advisors serve in many capacities such as coaches, teachers, and counselors to name a few. However, advisors are also leaders. Advisors are the stewards of student growth and development. Advisors are servant leaders. They seek to improve the lives of their students and help them believe that together, all things are possible. Research supports the relationship between academic advising and servant leadership. Research also suggests that servant leadership-based advising is critical to student success. This interactive presentation will demonstrate the link between academic advising and servant leadership, provide an overview of current and past research, offer practical significance on servant leadership-based advising, and provide a framework for integrating servant leadership into advising training.
