Abstract:
|
Referrals play an essential role in academic support and success. However, students may not always follow through with referrals for various reasons. They may have anxiety or unease about contacting another office or individual. The steps or process could be overwhelming, or they are unsure if there is a specific procedure to follow.
To create better connections between faculty mentors and students, the professional advisors in the Department of Teacher Education created a three-step referral process. This three-step process identifies students who raise several flags or questions that a mentoring faculty member would better support. Each faculty mentor has a mentoring profile that outlines their credentials and areas of expertise. These profiles allow the advisors to match the student's questions or interests with the faculty mentor, who would provide the best information and resources. |
