HOT TOPIC: You ARE an Assessment Person!
Although you may not realize it, as an academic advisor you engage in assessment every day. Have you ever found yourself double-checking with your advisee that they understood what you told them or asking your advisee to show you they know how to complete a task such as registering for a class? That's assessment! It's easy to think of assessment as a formal process, the responsibility of an Advising Director or an Assistant Director for Assessment. In reality, advisors leverage formative assessment during most advising interactions with their students. In this HOT TOPIC, uncover the ways in which you practice assessment every day. Explore how those informal assessments can contribute to your personal understanding of the impact you make and contribute to the effectiveness of your advising unit. |
