As advising caseloads grow, group advising offers a strategic approach to enhance student engagement while supporting advisor well-being. This session provides academic advisors and advising leaders with resources and strategies to develop a meaningful group advising practice. Presenters will share their institution's advising model, recent structural changes, and their rationale for implementing group advising. Participants will explore the benefits of group advising, including improved caseload management, peer support, and increased student participation. This session will also address challenges such as advisor buy-in and student resistance, and share methods for addressing these challenges. Through discussion and reflection, participants will brainstorm student learning outcomes and implementation plans tailored to their advising context. Attendees will receive practical materials, including planning worksheets and templates, to help integrate group advising into their practice effectively. |
