Abstract: With the growth of the academic advising profession, the scholar-practitioner has emerged as a hands-on administrator who draws on theory and research to solve real-time problems of practice in higher education. Doctoral programs in education-specifically EdDs-prepare higher education professionals to fulfill this role.
