Lead Presenter: Nora Leyva
Date: October 07, 2021    Time: 9:15 am - 10:15 am
Room: Zoom Room 1
Abstract: This presentation will demonstrate how a multidisciplinary college at a public four-year Hispanic Serving Institution in Southern California developed a mandatory advising program to improve graduation rates and engage in proactive advising methods. This effort required multi-level collaboration between the College's Assistant Dean, major advisers, and peer advisers. The presenters will guide attendees through the process of developing and implementing the program and address challenges related to large student to adviser ratios, communication planning, technology, and more. Moreover, the presenters will share data from recent graduating classes from two majors and feedback from students participating in the mandatory advising program.
