Abstract: Finding Your Neighborhood- The ways in which small colleges build community at large institutions

Some may consider community building among college students to be a daunting task. However, the sense of belonging is an important aspect of retention/persistence that the literature supports. This collaborative session seeks to engage attendees in idea sharing, structural discussion, and information sharing from two different programs (Health and Art) with two different processes (staff-led and peer-led) at a flagship; land grant institution. Throughout the session, attendees will construct their own ideas for community building/belonging program to take back to their institution.
