Abstract:
|
Students majoring in the visual and performing arts-including designers, performers, filmmakers, animators, and scholars-face unique academic and career challenges that call for tailored, creative advising strategies. This session explores how academic advisors can effectively support these students by recognizing the difference between traditional academic burnout and artistic burnout and understanding the demands of a creative education. Through interactive discussions and real-world case studies, participants will gain practical tools to help students balance their creative and academic pursuits, maintain their well-being, and prepare for dynamic career paths. By addressing the diverse pressures faced by art and design majors, advisors can foster a more balanced approach that encourages academic success, nurtures creative growth, and supports professional development across all artistic disciplines. |
