Title: How to Set Boundaries & Navigate Burnout as Advisors
Lead Presenter: Sinclair Ceasar III
Date: October 07, 2021    Time: 9:15 am - 10:15 am
Room: Zoom Room 2
Abstract: Have you been feeling tired often while still getting plenty of sleep? This might be one sign of burnout. Perhaps you identify with one of the following: feeling guilty when you set boundaries; every project/task feeling urgent; being overworked and understaffed; or saying yes when you know you have little capacity for more work. During this workshop, we will discuss the nature of burnout and Compassion Fatigue. We will highlight the overwhelm of advising during a time of an ever-changing economic and political climate. This will be a practical, solution-focused workshop for participants who would like to learn the value of advocating for their needs, set clear boundaries by using nonviolent communication, and unlearn the guilt that accompanies taking time for ourselves.
