Abstract: Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast: Lessons learned implementing a new advising model

Sometimes our best efforts to shape and implement a new strategy on campus fall flat. Is it possible your strategy collided with an aspect of your campus culture that didn't allow for the change to move forward? Using a case study of an Excellence in Academic Advising action plan, the power of organizational culture will be explored. Participants will work through the Iceberg Model of Culture to account for aspects of campus culture that lurk below the surface, impeding progress. Participants also will discuss ideas to successfully navigate campus culture to enact change.
