Abstract:
|
With the precarious time in higher education, administrators need to be prepared for challenges such as the enrollment cliff, federal cuts, and significant budget deficits. But how do you advocate for student success when you may not be the ultimate decision-maker? This interactive presentation explores the critical role of academic advisors and administrators as middle managers in higher education, drawing insights from Scott Mautz's 'Leading From The Middle.' Academic advisors serve as vital connectors between students and institutional leadership, navigating the complexities of student needs while implementing administrative policies. Presenters from various universities, roles, and advising expertise will lead thoughtful discussions on navigating these challenges, sharing diverse perspectives and real-world experiences. This session will address challenges mid-level leaders face and provide actionable strategies for enhancing their influence and effectiveness. Attendees will discuss strategies to lead up, down, and across their educational institutions and leave with a personalized action plan to be catalysts for positive change. |
