Abstract:
|
Academic Advisors without a doubt often have too much on their plate to effectively meet the needs of each student in their active case load. One solution and trending structure is to have a "shared" model where each student is assigned to both a Faculty Advisor and Academic Advisor. In hindsight, Advisors agree that students should receive the upmost support, but how do we ensure that the "shared" relations between Faculty/Staff are properly delineated? For each member in the tripod to feel valued, appreciated and heard, structure and communication and expectations must be made clear for the model to flourish. Without planning for a successful "shared" model, inclusivity, competitiveness, and confusion are bound to occur. Hear how one Advising team explored the gaps, to focus on improvements and suggestions for a more wholesome "shared" model. |
