Abstract:
|
Feeling like a fraud. Doubting your own skills. Believing success is sheer luck. Approximately 80% of the population experience imposter syndrome. From confirmation and negativity biases, Imposter Syndrome can impact our lives, both personally and professionally. Whether working with a student with imposter syndrome or dealing with it ourselves, higher education is an environment where imposter syndrome continues to grow. The use of popular culture can help dealing with Imposter Syndrome be more relevant and impactful, especially through the use of comic book characters. Comic book characters are both a written and visual narrative that can connect stories of internal conflict, dual identities, and self-doubt to the real life experiences of both students and higher education professionals. |
