Abstract: This session will examine reasons for the historical neglect of transfer students in higher education, identify many common barriers for all types of transfer students, and offer strategies for successful transitional experiences, all of which facilitate greater student success for and better retention of them. Participants will be able to identify barriers, determine ways to examine their transitional programs, and develop plans for enhancing advocacy roles for transfer students on their campuses. Various resources will be shared, and a Q/A aspect will be included.
