Abstract: Although graduates are gaining the knowledge and technical skills needed to compete in the workforce, research shows that employers believe that new graduates still lack the necessary soft skills to be successful in a professional environment. However, these skills are often abstract and hard to teach. As academic advisors, how can we use our limited time with students to teach and demonstrate soft skills? The D.O.U.G.I.E. method allows us to maximize the time we spend with students, allowing us to enhance their soft skills in addition to providing academic and career guidance. Join us in Teach Me How to D.O.U.G.I.E: Teaching Soft Skills Through Academic Advising to up your advising game and improve student success to help students reach their full potential!
