Abstract:
|
This presentation will aim to define, deconstruct, and deliberate on the points related to parallel-planning - an advising technique utilized to prepare students (in the event their initial major is too difficult to retain) for an alternate major or pursuit of study. Using Powerpoint slides to guide the discussion, the collaborative presentation will provide attendees with the opportunity to share ideas, methods, and strategies to best-utilize parallel-planning in their formal academic advising.
Incorporating other university approaches, procedures, and best practices on parallel-planning will be discussed. Examples of various university procedures and documentation will be examined, and advising issues related to parallel-planning (student and parent-related) will be debated. Research and collected feedback from parallel-planned students will be analyzed in the presentation. |
