Title: Our Stories: The Challenges and Successes of Creating a Flipped Advising Approach
Lead Presenter: George Steele
Date: October 01, 2018    Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Room: N 227 A
Abstract: This panel discussion will highlight how three institutions have integrated a flipped advising approach into their advising practice. Presenters will share their challenges and successes related to implementation, practice, and program assessment efforts. Flipped advising uses technologies designed to promote a teaching and learning approach for advising practice. Technologies primarily used are learning management systems and e-portfolios. The intent of using these tools is to develop a teaching and learning approach to the delivery of academic advising. This method also supports asynchronous or synchronous capabilities for advising traditional or distance learning students. An overview of flipped advising will be presented, followed by a brief overview of how each institution implemented and deployed its approach. Time will be allotted for audience questions.
