Abstract:
|
"Designing advising curricula can often feel like a large task. This concurrent session seeks to provide participants with the tools necessary to facilitate curriculum design at their institutions. Participants will be introduced to the concept of backwards design, which keeps student learning at the center of the curriculum design process and ensures assessment is integral. They will be guided through an activity to practice the skills necessary to employ a collaborative approach to curriculum design at their institution, learning valuable facilitation skills in the context of curriculum development. At the conclusion, newfound knowledge of the backwards design process and practice employing facilitation skills will leave participants armed with the tools necessary to facilitate learning-centered curriculum design discussions at their institution.
