Abstract:
|
Let's face it: There is a difference between advising on-campus and distance students. Knowing how to advise between those two populations can be difficult without guidance and training. Utilizing NACADA's 'Academic Advising Core Competencies Guide' provides the framework for making such adjustments in advising approaches and techniques.
No matter if you are new to advising distance students or have been advising distance students for years, this framework is beneficial for all advisors. You will get a brief outline of the entire framework, covering the conceptual, informational and relational components. Deeper discussion will include student stories and the informational and relational components. Come join the discussion of how we can better serve our students, both near and afar! |
