Abstract:
|
The Post-Transfer Pathways Program for Computing and Engineering Majors (Pathways) project seeks to develop, implement, and evaluate a program to support community college transfer students in their pursuit of a four-year STEM (computing or engineering) degree. Determining how to reduce the loss of STEM community college students from four-year programs addresses a significant hindrance to producing a vital STEM workforce. The project also creates and evaluates a more formal structure for collaboration between a four-year institution and six community colleges. Now it its second year, Pathways accomplishes its goals with an experienced interdisciplinary research team complemented by two consultants who are national experts on diverse community college transfer students, especially underrepresented students in STEM. |
