Abstract:
|
Retention and student success in our institutions is becoming increasingly salient to our work as enrollment numbers are stagnating. However, not all of the students admitted to our programs are academically prepared for success. Therefore, this presentation will examine an academic strategies course at the Eller College of Management designed to support first-year students' academic and social transition into the university. Over the two years of program, we learned a variety of implementation strategies that have been more successful than others. By examining the successes and opportunities for improvement in this program, participants will be better able to contextualize the utility of such a program at their institution and what value, if any, it may have on their larger retention initiatives. |
