Abstract:
|
If an advisor has the ability to instill Grit in a student, they are more likely to be able to assist students to be comfortable with the delayed gratification of the long term goals that are required in persistence towards degree attainment. At our community College, the office of advising practices intentional advising, implementation of Academic Completion Plans, Succeed Workshops, Study Zones, Connect Events, and a Succeed Conference to demonstrate the Grit Model. After a year's worth of connecting the Grit Method of Advising to our everyday work as Advisors and Counselors, we will share our data and outcomes for student success. What has worked, what has been improved and what have our students learned in the process? |
