Abstract:
|
"Mastering any subject matter involves breaking the information into its essential components. Faculty spend a great deal of time doing just that for students in their courses. It's time we do the same for them and demystify the art of advising.
Providing faculty with advising background and resources will help them align best practices with advising literature and the advising mission of the institution. A team of advisors at a large, public institution is developing an online self-paced course specifically for faculty advisors. The team will discuss how the course was designed around NACADA's Conceptual, Informational, Relational and Technology components and the process for developing the content.
This presentation is appropriate for those considering faculty advisor training or programming at any size institution.
