Abstract:
|
The literature increasingly points to the importance of effective academic advising in student persistence to graduation. Intensified focus on advising makes it imperative that we assess the effectiveness of our academic advising programs.
NACADA recommends utilizing four documents in the assessment of advising: NACADA's Concept of Academic Advising, Core Values of Academic Advising, Core Competencies, and the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) Standards for Academic Advising Programs.
This session, presented by NACADA's representatives on the CAS Board of Directors and faculty from NACADA's Assessment Institute, provides a foundation of assessment, an overview of NACADA's Pillar documents, and strategies for using them in assessment. Participants will use the documents to develop student learning outcomes for their advising program. |
