Abstract:
|
Do these terms ring a bell? Astronaut parent. Helicopter parents. Submarine parents. Lawnmower parent. These terms have negative connotations associated with them. However, there are many who are trying to find positive ways to engage parents during the orientation moment. Join the newly formed Orientation Advising Community for a discussion of best practices and ideas for involving parents/guardians in supporting their student's college journey. This hot topic session will provide an interactive opportunity for all to learn about different programs and initiatives occurring on campuses and to get excited about the possibilities for adding a third-wheel to the advising relationship while protecting the student and their personal interests. Bring your ideas and questions and leave with some possible solutions to bring back to your campus! |
