Abstract: In transfer student research it is well documented that a higher level of collaboration between the feeder and receiver institutions results in a higher level of transfer student success. One large public university has taken transfer coordination one step further. Students are admitted into a program that includes enrollment in an associate's degree at a two-year institution and concurrent enrollment at a four-year university's related bachelor's degree. Students who enroll in the concurrent program have graduated at 15-16% higher rates than students in the same program who are not concurrently enrolled. This presentation will explain how advising within the concurrent program is coordinated among institutions, identify some of the challenges in implementing and sustaining an inter-institutional advising model, and give strategies to clearly coordinate and advise students across institutions.
