Abstract: The Students Connecting with Mentors for Success (SCMS) program at Oklahoma City Community College has demonstrated a successful record of producing students whose GPA's and persistence rates exceed those of other student groups on campus. Through the collaborative efforts of constituents on and off campus, these young men have transformed themselves into mature, successful college students with bright futures beyond the college community. The importance of the success specialist's role in advising and teaching these students how to navigate the college landscape is stressed.
