Career decision-making is a lifelong process that is constantly evolving and shaped by a variety of cognitive, intrapersonal, and interpersonal factors. Self-awareness is a crucial factor that contributes to enhanced career decision-making. This presentation will provide academic advisors with an overview of the self-authorship approach and demonstrate how self-authorship may be utilized to enhance student's academic and career decision-making capacity. The objectives of this presentation will be to: (1) offer an overview of the theoretical tenants of the self-authorship approach, (2) provide information on enhancing student's career decision-making capacity through self-authorship, and (3) provide strategies on how to apply the self-authorship approach with students. |
