Abstract: Have you ever wondered how to best support students and other advisors who may not share your background? Four panelists will share varied perspectives on ideas and approaches aimed at encouraging and empowering both students and advisors of color. This panel session will provide participants an opportunity to review the concept of allyship, listen to panelists share ideas and approaches on being an ally and promoting justice on our campuses as well as discuss ways in which these ideas and approaches can be incorporated into their advising practices. This session is appropriate for advisors and advising administrators wishing to bring ideas back to their staff.
