Abstract:
|
Why Academic Advising? What inspires you to work with students? What encourages you to engage in the profession of advising? What motivates you to manage an advising unit? What encourages you to support the development of academic advisors? Why did you make academic advising your profession? At all professional levels of academic advising, it is important that we understand our personal purpose and practice in the profession. This workshop will help you answer these questions through a guided process of updating your advising philosophy. You will be provided with components to an advising philosophy, advising and critical theory and research, colleague support, and time to reflect. Attendees will also receive resources from the workshop to guide reflection with others on their campuses. |
