Do your students get tangled in a web of negativity fueled by incorrect information about your program? Are you looking for tools to rewrite the story? This presentation will highlight the ways in which the Office of Student Success within the School of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University implements holistic, strengths-based initiatives to challenge and change negative stories about the student experience. Participants will come away with a greater understanding of the impact of co-rumination on the student experience. They will gain the skills necessary to reframe the narrative by encouraging student connection, advocacy, and empowerment. Following this presentation, participants will engage in a group discussion to share effective strategies from their home institutions. This presentation is designed for advisors and administrators. |
