Abstract:
|
Student satisfaction with advising does not necessarily provide information about the substantive content and effectiveness of advising conversations, and as a result, it is difficult to establish effective practices based on satisfaction surveys alone. This presentation will detail the development, execution and assessment of an advising pilot project, where a diverse group of faculty advisors tested a specific set of candidate initiatives in order to establish practices that best suit our student population and advising structure. The presenters will highlight how the pilot project led to the integration of a data-informed, evidence-based approach with multiple measures to facilitate continuous improvement of our advising program. Participants will brainstorm strategies for formulating and assessing advising practices to suit their student population and institutional advising model. |
