Title: Multigenerational Competence: How to Successfully Navigate a Multigenerational Environment
Lead Presenter: Jack Vitalsey

Room: N Ballroom 120 A-D
Abstract: It is becoming more and more common for advising offices to experience unique challenges and opportunities that come with generational diversity. If an advising office lacks an understanding of what individuals in each generation need and want, they risk lower productivity, increased turnover, and conflict among employees. However, if an advising office can understand the value of a multigenerational office and leverage the various assets of each generation, it has the opportunity to build group synergy and thrive in their work with students of all ages. Our presentation, 'Multigenerational Competence: How to Successfully Navigate a Multigenerational Environment,' will equip academic advisors to recognize what drives each generation and take those factors into account as they develop tailored approaches to employee engagement, professional expectations, office harmony, teamwork, and most importantly, effectively advising students.
