Abstract:
|
Project MyStory is an initiative of the Academic Support Center at a large public institution that aims to help students better acclimate to university life by sharing peer stories of struggle and success. Every semester, student volunteers blog, conduct workshops, and liaise with youth organizations and local schools to build community through the sharing of stories. Several faculty members have shared their stories at our workshops in an effort to help students plan for their future. During this poster session, we will outline the evolution of Project MyStory, our future goals, and how we have liaised with other departments for support and promotion. Participants will gain further understanding of how they can harness the power of narratives in their personal advising practice and as an advising unit. |
