Abstract:
|
The objective of this presentation is to share findings from a NACADA-sponsored research project focused on academic advising policies and practices at baccalaureate degree-granting community colleges. Although 22 states have authorized community colleges to confer their own baccalaureate degrees and this number is unlikely to slow (Gandara & Cuellar, 2016), this topic remains understudied. As such, this presentation is timely, relevant, and poised to make significant contributions to research, policy, and practice. While underscoring the complexity involved in four-year degree programming at the community college, this study illuminates implications for policy and planning and areas for future research. This presentation is relevant to community college leaders, advisors, and faculty at colleges that are considering or have already implemented four-year programs. |
