Abstract:

There's nothing more frustrating than spending time and money planning for an advising push or special event but only having a handful of students attend. It's a waste of resources and could affect funding or time allowance for future opportunities. This presentation will detail experiences of the presenter employing persuasive strategies to motivate student engagement and attendance to events at a large 4-year university over three years. The presenter will provide an overview of proven psychological and communicative theories used to guide the purposeful advertising and marketing choices that led to a nearly 700% increase in event attendance, starting at 4% engagement of the target student population and ending at 19%. |
