Abstract: The transition from advisor to manager can be challenging. Being a great advisor doesn't necessarily mean you will automatically become a great supervisor. In this session we will explore how to meld advising models such as Advising as Teaching and Appreciative Advising with management models and strategies. We will also identify resources to development your personal management style. The successful transition from advisor to supervisor not only impacts your professional development, but it also impacts advisor retention and growth and ultimately student success.
